THE "SELF-DRIVE" ADVENTURE TOUR
SAFARI'S
The convoy departs from the beach
access ramp past Corolla Village. The 20+ mile, round-trip heads
North toward the Virginia state line and Carova Beach led by your
personal guide who is both knowledgeable and informative.
The tour takes you into such areas as the Wild Horse
Sanctuary set aside and dedicated for the purpose of
habitat enhancement. The horses use the conservation area as it was
intended, for their protection, but are frequently seen along the
beaches and frolicking in the surf as well. Your guide will tell you
about the horses and their history along with some of the colorful
local lore and tall tales as well. Unscheduled sightings of many
other species of wildlife can and do occur unexpectedly so be
prepared to take pictures.

ocean breached the dunes covering the beach road and crossing the
main highway in many places. This was a Northeaster not a hurricane!
